Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces
A revitalized the Russian player won his initial title for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.
The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in specific - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with former mentor his previous coach.
Now working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.
It is his initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since March of that year.
Victory also means the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my two daughters at once, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.
Medvedev's defensive strategy and frequent outbursts on court had caused commentators to wonder if his skill to compete at the top level was concluded.
However the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.
He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five games to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to force a decider.
The opponent rescued four early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before the champion secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Appropriately, Medvedev secured the title with a point at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
