RAF Typhoon FGR4s have operated alongside France's air force in a coordinated attack targeting an underground arms cache in Syria operated by the IS group, as stated by the UK's MoD.
The location, located using surveillance, was assessed as containing munitions and bombs, the release indicated, and was located in hills just to the north of Palmyra in central Syria.
"Our fighter planes used precision-guided Paveway IV munitions to hit a several access tunnels leading to the facility... early reports are that the target was engaged successfully," the MoD said.
There was no evidence of any harm to civilians in the operation on Saturday evening and all the aircraft returned safely, the ministry further stated.
The British jets were backed up by a Voyager aerial refuelling aircraft.
Daesh - referred to as Daesh - imposed jihadist rule over parts of Iraq and Syria until 2019.
"This action underscores the UK's leading role, and determination to operate in unison with our allies, to stamp out any revival of the terrorist group and their violent and radical beliefs in the area," Britain's Defence Chief John Healey remarked.
RAF aircraft have performed overwatch operations over Syria to "prevent any attempted comeback" of Islamic State following its defeat at the climactic battle in Baghuz in 2019, the ministry said.
"I must thank every member of our armed forces participating in this strike for their skill and their valour," he added. "They were part of a great many British troops deployed over Christmas and New Year. This mission, to eliminate terrorist threats who pose a risk to our way of life, highlights how British military are ready to step up, continuously, keeping Britain secure at home and powerful internationally."
In December, the United States armed forces executed what it described as a "massive strike" against IS targets in Syria, after an assault resulted in the deaths of two American soldiers and a local interpreter in Palmyra.
The UN estimates Islamic State still has roughly 5-7 thousand militants in both countries.
